JOB The Deputy Clerk I is responsible for clerical work that provides support to the State Court of Bibb County.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Receives, dockets, and maintains all State Court civil Document and pleadings.
Receives, dockets, and file-stamps court filings/pleadings from the general public.
Enters pleadings/documents into case management system manually and electronically.
Prepares paperwork for Sheriff's service in civil cases received, when necessary.
Receives and enters Sheriff’s entries Service into case management system.
Assists attorneys, the general public and other offices with questions, requests and searches related to civil cases and/or documents and certifies court documents, when requested.
Generates reports and other documents required for court operation.
Receives filing fees, copy fees and any other monies required to be paid into Court and reconcile receipts for funds received.
Performs periodic Security and Integrity training.
Relieves Receptionist for daily breaks and absences.
Opens and distributes mail to the appropriate clerks, as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned and provides general assistance to the Clerk of Court and/or Chief Deputy Clerk.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION The Deputy Clerk I must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures and concepts: Knowledge of relevant processes related to the State Court.
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
Knowledge of personal computers and basic office programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
)Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.
Ability to type up to forty (40) works per minute.
Ability to prioritize work in accordance with established rules, regulations and Departmental policies.
Ability to establish and monitor the maintenance of complex recordkeeping systems and to prepare reports from the records.
Ability to use discretion in handling sensitive materials and other confidential information.
Ability to maintain effective working relationship with fellow employees and with members of the general public.
