*INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION*
Macon Housing Authority is seeking a motivated accounting intern who is ready to apply knowledge of financial terms and principles to an authentic real-world experience.
The intern will assist with a wide range of duties, including analyzing data, preparing financial reports, and learning about varied accounting activities.
This in an exciting opportunity for any student pursuing a career in real estate, affordable and mixed-use finance.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *Core duties and responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
* Assist with month-end financial reports.
* Post journal entries.
* Help with accounts receivable, payable, and bank statement reconciliation.
* Assist with audits.
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
* Assist with processing weekly deposits.
* Record monthly acquisition of inventory.
* Assist with data entry and filing.
*SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: *This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE* * Must be in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.
* Must have completed introductory accounting courses and possess a basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
* Must have an aptitude for math.
* Proficient with computers and different software programs.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organization and time management skills with ability to work without distraction.
* Impeccable attention to detail.
* Must have a high sense of rigor to prevent any form of mistake that may occur in documenting financial information.
* Ability to multitask.
* Must be a team player and motivated with a strong desire to take on new challenges.

*REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, STIPULATIONS* Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Authority’s insurance carrier.
Must be available to work overtime as business dictates.
